Meditation Ascension

what’s the deal with ishaya’s ascension?

A friend has gotten interested in something called “ishaya’s ascension.” He just says it’s about meditation, though he only wants to meditate the way they taught him. He tried to get me interested, but they charge a lot for a weekend training and I already do other meditation I’m really happy with. And I researched it on the web, found some pretty strange stuff…like they don’t believe they are really from earth. They’ll also train you to be a teacher if you pay them £10,000. Does anyone know anything about this group? Sounds cult-ish to me and something to stay away from.
The weekend is like £200 or £300. The training is a few months, as near as I can tell open to anyone who has the time and the money.

For that kind of money, and your not getting a full tool set over the weekend… I say it’s bogus nonsense.

Meditation Higher Consciousness

Do you learn and practice meditation?

How do you practice meditation? For example: when do you usually meditate and for how long, how do you prevent yourself from falling asleep, etc….I’m also wondering what’s the effect on you? Does it help you to achieve higher level of consciousness?

Thank you very much! =)
I am only interested in real Buddhism meditation practice. Thanks.
Tommy please don’t promote falungong here. I am VERY clear about what i am seeking.

I prefer just focusing on breath.

Usually sit for 30 to 45 minutes, mornings or mid-day.

From experience, I’ve noticed I never nod off during those periods when am successfully maintaining focus on breath.
The times I start to nod off are when I haven’t yet become consciously aware I’ve drifted away from my breath, and my mind has become engaged/seduced into following a chain of thought.

To be clear, I don’t nod off every time I lose focus.
Believe me, some days thoughts keep carrying me away, and I am wide awake the whole time… so perhaps just has to do with how much rest I got the night before.

If I seem to be repeatedly struggling overcoming sleep (which again, is really about maintaining focus), I get up and try again later.
I’ve read and agree, it is better to have a short, high quality meditation, rather than a long, poor quality sitting.

As far as effect, it would be dramatic (but untrue) to say meditation has a huge impact on me.
I am aware of no higher level of consciousness (for myself anyway; your mileage may vary).
Just a very pleasing mental rest, in a way very different from sleep.

Meditation Quantum Physics

Is there any correlation between hypnosis/meditation with quantum physics/theory?

I don’t think so, not beyond the trivial. Hypnosis and meditation are processes that relate to the function of the human brain, such as by causing you to lower your level of awareness. This is an important process for humans because it allows for sleep and rest.
