In this article we are going to take a quick look at a disturbing trend I see in the conversational culture around the Out of Body Experience in todays society. It seems, with the proliferation of fly by night forums and erroneous e books, there are some nefarious souls out there recommending that newbie enthusiasts take an astral projection pill in order to experience the magic of OBE. I am here to tell you that not only is this completely against the spirit of the real spiritual warrior, it can also be dangerous, illegal and worse – even addictive if you aren’t careful.
All you really need to know is this: If anyone recommends you take a pill to have an OBE, they do not have either the intellectual or spiritual muscle to be trusted, nor do they have your best interest at heart. While there have been people who have certainly used drugs to have incredible experiences over the years, most of these people would have been taking drugs anyway. If your aspirations are to explore the potential and possibilities of the human experience, and feel what it truly is to be “free”, you obviously do not want to encumber your physical body, or senses with chemicals that will alter this very pure state of energetic luminosity.
And this is not being prudish. It’s simply stating the obvious. People who have used drugs to induce altered states of consciousness will NEVER be sure if their experience is real, or a figment of chemical construction. Ask people who have had spontaneous, or have used brain entrainment like sound, or deep meditation to achieve the same…and they will tell you it was the MOST real experience of their lives!
That is the fundamental difference. If you want to party – go to a nightclub. If you want to transcend the ordinary that most people spend their lives stuck in, practice astral projection the RIGHT way, I promise you’ll thank me later!

One of the most challenging and frustrating parts of getting involved with the OBE experience is the difficulty most people have in actually having a valid experience to support their spiritual journey. As someone who has been a devout practitioner for well over a decade, I have spent a lot of time writing about astral projection for beginners, as we all were one in the beginning! The key, in my experience to having a successful projection is very simple: You need to alter your conscious state to one that is amenable to the experience. Let’s take a quick look at what I mean.
As any hard core explorer into the frontier of consciousness will tell you, the human mind is a wild and wooly instrument, not easily tamed by the conscious will. Many practitioners of Zen will call this the “monkey mind” or the “mirror mind” and for those of us interested in the out of body experience can certainly attest that the will to project is not sufficient to make it happen. (or at least for those of us who don’t have them spontaneously)
The easiest way to leave your body is without question through the use of hemispheric brain technology that will “entrain your brain” to reach peak states of altered consciousness. Simply stated, this technology will take over and synchronize the way your mind leaps, and jumps and moves from place to place while you are working on the mechanics of a projection. Through quieting the mind, and allowing the smooth surfboard of technology to pick you up, you will find yourself riding the supernatural supra realms in no time!
Remember, brain entrainment technology has been used now for over 25 years to induce out of body states, has been tested by many in the scientific communities, including some of the most famous transpersonal psychologists in the world. It is a proven way to open up your mind, and your world to potentials that 99% of the population will never even contemplate, let alone explore on their own!
And it is, I dare say, just about the most exciting ride you can take…opening a little window into that great, vast, magical mystery that awaits us all!
