Hypnosis Induction Archives

Simply put, hypnosis is an altered state of consciousness characterized by heightened susceptibility to suggestion. The first step on your path to mastering hypnosis is learning how to induce hypnosis in individual subjects. This is one of the most important skills you will acquire and its mastery is fundamental to your further development as a hypnotist.

The successful induction of hypnosis always begins with consent. The subject may make this acceptance consciously or unconsciously. In either case, the net result is the same, the subject “expects” to be hypnotized.

It must be understood that there are countless hypnotic techniques in existence. There is no one right or wrong technique. All are equally good, so long as they give confidence to the operator and faith to the subject, as discussed in Chapter One. The only purpose of any method of hypnotizing is to
concentrate the subject’s attention and thus to eliminate most of the disturbing influences while leaving but a single channel of suggestion, which is usually the voice of the hypnotist and the ear of the subject.

So-called passes-the use of the hands and arms to direct energy toward the subject during the induction-are completely unnecessary. These are actually a holdover from the nineteenth century. Even so, many modern day stage hypnotists still employ such dramatic gestures as a form of showmanship. This is fine, so long as it is understood there is no scientific basis for their use. Nor, is there any need to touch a subject’s forehead, hand, knee, etc.-in general, no bodily contact is required. One’s voice is a sufficient channel of communication for suggestion.

Practice the following hypnotic induction technique, one-on-one, with a wide range of subjects until you are able to successfully influence the majority of them. All external distractions should be eliminated or minimized as much as possible.

In the beginning, be prepared to wait up to ten minutes or longer for a subject to reach a state of hypnosis. Don’t worry, speed will come with time. The most important consideration when starting out is learning the proper technique.

Hypnosis Induction Script

You can use the following script to put your subject into trance:

Make yourself comfortable…

Place your feet flat on the floor…

And rest your hands on your thighs…

Rest your hands down by your side…

And gently allow your eyelids to close…

And just begin to allow yourself to relax…

Letting all your cares and worries go…

And at this moment in time…

Nothing matters…

As you switch off your thoughts…

And just allow this time for yourself…

So that you can unwind completely…

And as you begin to feel more and more relaxed…

Letting go of any worries or problems…

That may have been on your mind lately…

And there is no need to fight any unwanted negative thoughts…

As they will soon drift out of your mind again…

Just as easily as they came…

I would like you to take a couple of deep breaths …

Slowly filling your lungs with fresh air…

And as you exhale …

You will relax more and more…

With every outbreath…

And as you gently slow your breathing down…

You begin to feel more and more relaxed…

More and more comfortable…

You will feel your whole body sinking into the couch/chair…

And you will notice how relaxed your whole body has become…

From the top of you head…

To the tips of your toes…

Your eyelids have become very heavy…

And may even twitch at this moment…

As you let go of any tension in your body…

And all the muscles in your jaw have become limp and relaxed…

As your jaw sinks down…

And your tongue rest gently on the bottom of your mouth…

And you are beginning to drift down deeper and deeper…

Feeling more and more relaxed with every word I speak…

And as this wave of relaxation spreads down your neck and shoulders…

And all the way down your arms to your fingertips…

You may feel a tingling sensation in your fingertips…

As your arms grow as heavy as lead…

And you soon become aware of a growing peaceful feeling inside…

A feeling of calmness and contentment…

As you feel every muscle in your chest and abdomen…

Become limp and relaxed…

And all the muscles in your back are relaxing…

Almost like a mental massage…

And all the way down your spine…

The muscles loosen and relax…

And as you drift down deeper and deeper relaxed…

You let this wave of relaxation spread all the way down your legs…

So that your legs become as heavy as lead…

And every muscle in your legs becomes limp and relaxed…

So that you are completely relaxed from the top of your head…

To the tips of your toes…

And as the outside world…

Fades more into the background…

As you begin your journey into your own inner world…

To that unique and special part of you…

That only you can go to…

You continue to let go…

Of any negative thoughts or feelings…

And any sounds around you…

Or in the distance…

Will fade into the background…

The only sound that will matter to you…

Will be the sound of my voice…

Which will continue to take you deeper and deeper…

Into a wonderful state of relaxation…

And you may soon find that your mind begins to wander…

And it doesn’t matter where you drift…

Where you go…

My voice will travel with you at all times…

So that you will continue…

To respond to me on an unconscious level…

And in a few moments time…

You will hear me say the word…

Nowwww…

And when you hear me say the word…

Nowwww…

All the unnecessary nervous tension is going out of your body…

And your body…

Will continue to sink down…

Becoming more and more limp …

More and more relaxed…

And comfortable too…

Just feel yourself sinking down into the couch/chair…

Your head sinking down into the pillow…

Becoming even more comfortable…

Feeling completely at peace…

And calm and contented…

As you continue to drift down…

Really enjoying this wonderful feeling of complete relaxation…

And there may be times when…

You will not be aware of your body…

You wont be aware of your body at all…

As you continue to go deeper and deeper relaxed…

Deeper and deeper relaxed…

9 Steps to Successful Hypnosis Induction

Hypnosis induction can be a very complex and sophisticated art which requires you to master each step before you move up to the next step.

Just about everyone wants to influence another person to take a certain direction
in life, accept a specific principle, or make a particular purchase. There are an
amazing number of resources that have been developed toward this goal of
modifying mindsets and changing behavior. At the basis of all this effort is a
simple process that is known as a hypnosis induction.

Hypnosis induction simply means to influence another person to make a
particular choice. The choice can be something as simple as inducing or
prompting someone to buy a particular pair of shoes, or it may range to
something as life changing as choosing a career path or entering into a
committed relationship. v

Hypnosis induction tends to make use of various types
of stimulation that will create an environment where a person begins to see a
particular path as a desirable one. As such, the induction can be manifested in
several different ways.

One of the more common means of utilizing a hypnosis induction is through the
auditory senses. This may involve the technique normally referred to as
conversational induction. By making use of words as the means of introducing a
concept or idea into the conscious and subconscious mindset, it is possible to
motivate an individual to begin considering a given idea.

Further verbal prompts can be used to help the person continue with that consideration,
possibly arriving at a decision to accept or do what you had in mind. The best part is that the
individual receiving the verbal prompts perceives the action as being of his or her
own volition.

Other forms of auditory stimuli can be used as well. Music, the sounds of nature,
and series of other sounds can also help to focus attention on a given course of
action that ultimately leads to modifying behavior. Visual induction is a common
component of sales strategies.

Colors, visual patterns, and the written word are all modes of hypnosis induction that help
to motivate the individual to engage in a specified action. Lovers use visual induction to
excite partners, parents use visual induction to motivate children to conduct themselves
appropriately, and hosts use visual motivators to induce guests to relax and make
themselves at home.

One point to remember is that hypnosis induction is all about persuasion and
influence. It is not about creating a state where people will mindlessly perform
your bidding. In order for induction to work, the subject must perceive the action
or idea as desirable, and make a choice to follow that prompting.
