Binaural Beat Types

Where can I get Binaural beats to help me sleep?

I read on the internet that a product called Binaural Beats helps you sleep,
But when I search for it I always find different types of sounds,
So Can someone tell me what 1 I’m supposed to get to help me sleep please or if you can give me a link to the product itself that would be great.

Thanks a lot.

Thomas, binaural beats for insomnia sound a bit odd when you hear them for the first time (at-least they do not sound like music, unless music has been deliberately mixed with them) but they are believed to help people get rid of insomnia.

Binaural beats for insomnia are thought to help people fall asleep by temporarily altering the pattern of electrical activity of their brain, so that this pattern resembles the electrical activity of the brain during sleep! It actually requires you to do nothing more than putting on stereo headphones and listening to an audio recording.

Usually this audio recording (binaural beats) sounds like a pulsating gadget unless some other relaxing sound (e.g. music, or the sound of ocean waves, rain, breeze, etc.) has been mixed with it. This additional sound of music, rain, etc. is not really necessary for binaural beats to work, but it makes the listening experience more pleasant. The volume should be turned low or kept barely audible.

To put it simply, binaural beats for insomnia play two tones having two different frequencies in each ear using headphones. Our brainwaves automatically try to mimic the frequency that is equal to the difference between the two frequencies that we are hearing simultaneously.

What can help with SSRI Discontinuation Syndrome?

Hello! I’m 19 and I’ve decided to wean off of my SSRI (Fluvoxamine 100mg QHS) with the aid of my doctor. I really feel that after years of maturation, I feel that I am ready, and my doctor agrees. He set me up on a plan of titration that will wean me off of my medication. Unfortunately, I am having a lot of symptoms that are usually associated with SSRI Discontinuation Syndrome. I am having shock-like sensations in my head, dizziness, nausea, fatigue, depersonalization, lucid dreams, and even my facial features look very tired and upset, even though I’m not upset in the least! My doctor does not have a lot of knowledge on SSRI Discontinuation Syndrome, and I was wondering if anyone out there had any knowledge as to how to lessen the blow, other than a slow, well-monitored weaning. Are there any specific foods or supplements? Thanks!!

A previous answer follows, modified for you: I’d be wanting to taper off similarly to the following: first week 90% dosage; following weeks: 80, 70, 60, 50, 40, 30, 25, 20, 15, 10, 7.5, 5, & 2.5%. For Paxil and Lexapro (reputedly the 2 worst for discontinuation symptoms) I suggest taking twice as long.

One way is to get a mortar, and pestle, and crush tablets to a powder; put it in a long, thin line, and work out correct proportions, perhaps cutting the line in half once, and then repeatedly (measurements need only be approximate).

A more accurate way is to dissolve them in water, and use a graduated medication measuring container, from a pharmacy.
I know Lexapro have a liquid version, suitable for this purpose, but am unsure about Paxil.

Another option is to replace the Paxil, 10% daily, with Prozac; stabilise for a short while, then wean off the Prozac (said to be considerably less troublesome, for most people). Check out http://www.itmonline.org/arts/ssri.htm & http://www.antidepressantsfacts.com/taper.htm SSRI WITHDRAWAL SCHEDULE & * http://theroadback.org/workbook.htm about yours. From Y!A: “I have heard from friends helping others off meds that a key ingredient to stop the horrible withdrawals is to take doses of calcium gluconate & magnesium carbonate. These are the two minerals the body is deficient of and create the terrible withdrawals you’re having”. ~~~

Depressive episodes last around 6 months, on average, for those NOT using antidepressants to treat them, and may recur in around 50% of cases. For those who use antidepressants, the situation may well be different; see http://articles.mercola.com/sites/articles/archive/2010/05/08/robert-whitaker-interview.aspx View http://your-mental-health.8m.com/blank_27.html and page B about effective natural depression treatments.

I suggest that at least use the core treatments (have you had CBT, or counselling? – see http://curetogether.com/depression/ig/treatment-effectiveness-vs-popularity) perhaps, once below 50% weaning dosage with a RECOMMENDED brand of St. John’s Wort (I strongly doubt that most of the people in the survey did; probably just OFF THE SHELF, or OTC substandard/old product, containing too little hyperforin with the hypericin – view http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/10759336?dopt=Abstract ) with meals and possibly, when almost fully weaned, 50 mg of 5-htp daily. If 5-htp is used to boost serotonin levels, (which are low in depressed people) it is best taken with a high carbohydrate, minimal protein meal, like pasta with tomato & basil, and avoid protein for 90 minutes, before, and after, to maximise the amount crossing the blood/brain barrier. Alternatively, take SAMe with the core treatments, but don’t use anything else.

It may be advisable to return to full dosage until stabilised, then begin slow weaning.
