Neurofeedback Therapy for children with ADHD & Learning Difficulties?
I am currently researching neurofeedback therapy as an alternative to using medication for the treatment of ADHD.My son has learning difficulties and the main area of concern is concentration and the processing of information. He is not hyperactive but does get angry and frustated. We have had all the tests and recommendations vary as do “professional” opinions. Last year he had counselling with a child physicologist for anger management and this was very helpful and provided us with good strategies His behaviour over the last 12 months has improved beyond expecations. The problem now is getting him to achieve to his full potential. The thing is he wants to learn and is interested in learning -problem is if his brain cannot focus then its beyond his capacity to do so. Hence our interest in this type of therapy. The cost is high and I am a little skeptical I have looked at another programm that is constantly advertised and spoken to friends that signed up – the results were all negative
Hi !
My sister is in the Neurofeedback line in Singapore hence I think I may be able to tell you more about Neurofeedback.
Before doing the Neurofeedback, they have this brain assessment call QEEG which is brain mapping. This is an analysis of a person’s brainwave pattern while the person is engaged in a specific task.
By doing QEEG , it can identify area of brain activation while executing the task. Hence QEEG can tell us the area of the brain that are fully engaged and processing efficiently & which are not.
Hence with QEEG , it can pinpoint the area of the brain your son is not active in. Thus QEEG can be serve as a map to determine the specific locations to train during Neurofeedback.
With the training of the brain using Neurofeedback in which the person is weak in , the person is able to achieve to his full potential.
There are also other factors affecting the results of Neurofeedback. Neurofeedback requires effort. One has to make an effort to attempt to alter their brainwave. In addition the biochemistry and nutrition level are important too. Those who have high toxic level like lead , mercury often do not response well to Neurofeedback. Hence, with toxic metal accumulation , they do not do well in Neurofeedback. Hence , it is better for them to detox first before during the Neurofeedback.
If you need more information , feel free to email my sis at lywlinda@gmail.com. She will be gladly to assist you.
Don’t be discouraged!

How can I program my dreams to dream about stuff I want? (Not lucid dreaming) Tips please?
Serious question: how can I make myself dream about stuff I want to? I’ve heard people can and some people when awakened can make themselves go back to the same dream. I’m not talking about lucid dreaming (that’s where you’re conscious inside the dream that you’re asleep and dreaming) because I tend to wake pretty fast when I lucid dream.
But telling myself “ok I want to dream of this so subsconsious make it a pleasant dream about _____” has never worked. What’s are the tricks to make it happen? I once used hyponsis tapes that said “you now program your dreams to lose weight” but I never dreamt of that either (even though I did achieve weight loss via the 3 other sides of the 2 tape set, LOL)
Anyway I want to not so much control my entire dream, but give myself the set up, the location and characters and storyline and see what develops. How can I make myself dream of something on purpose.
Thanks.
I don’t think you can do that while you’re still conscious. In any case, once your asleep, more often than not you are in complete control of your dreams. If you see your dream going in a direction you don’t like, just force yourself to change it. It’s kind of hard to explain, but when you are asleep, if you focus on changing the dream, it will change in the way you want it too.
Minimally Invasive Treatment for Urinary Incontinence
Urinary Incontinence
Also called: Overactive bladder Urinary incontinence is loss of bladder control. Symptoms can range from mild leaking to uncontrollable wetting. It can happen to anyone, but it becomes more common with age.
Most bladder control problems happen when muscles are too weak or too active. If the muscles that keep your bladder closed are weak, you may have accidents when you sneeze, laugh or lift a heavy object. This is stress incontinence. If bladder muscles become too active, you may feel a strong urge to go to the bathroom when you have little urine in your bladder. This is urge incontinence or overactive bladder. There are other causes of incontinence, such as prostate problems and nerve damage.
Diagnosis Mayo physicians have a full array of tests available to help determine the cause of urinary incontinence, including urinalysis, stress tests, cystoscopy and studies of urine pressure and flow.
Treatment Options Simple therapies, such as diet modification, avoiding liquids before bedtime, or changing medications can immediately improve urinary incontinence. However, when an infection or serious illness inhibits a patient’s ability to control bladder function, more aggressive treatment may be needed. Non-invasive outpatient procedures, biofeedback, medications and surgery are among several options. Overall, Mayo Clinic finds that treatment can cure or significantly improve the symptoms of about 80 percent of patients with urinary incontinence.
Nonsurgical Treatment of Urge Incontinence Treatments most commonly used for urge urinary incontinence are bladder training with timed voiding, medication, biofeedback, and electrical stimulation. It also may be helpful to distribute fluid intake throughout the course of the day and avoid foods that can irritate the bladder (e.g., coffee, tea, carbonated beverages, spicy foods, acidic foods).
Are there different types of incontinence?
Yes. There are 5 types of urinary incontinence. A brief explanation of each follows.
Stress incontinence Stress incontinence is when urine leaks because of sudden pressure on your lower stomach muscles, such as when you cough, laugh, lift something or exercise. Stress incontinence usually occurs when the pelvic muscles are weakened, for example by childbirth or surgery. Stress incontinence is common in women.
Urge incontinence This occurs when the need to urinate comes on very suddenly, often before you can get to a toilet. Your body may only give you a warning of a few seconds to minutes before you urinate. Urge incontinence is most common in the elderly and may be a sign of a urinary tract infection or an overactive bladder.
Overflow incontinence This type of incontinence is the uncontrollable leakage of small amounts of urine. It’s caused by an overfilled bladder. You may feel like you can’t empty your bladder all the way and you may strain when urinating. This often occurs in men and can be caused by something blocking the urinary flow, such as an enlarged prostate gland or tumor. Diabetes or certain medicines may also cause the problem.
