Neurofeedback improves better brain function

Neurofeedback is known with different names like biofeedback, EEG or neurobiofeedback and Neurotherapy. All this are similar in action but just have different names. This is a therapy technique that presents the user with real time feedback on brainwave activity. This therapy teaches us to concentrate, maintain attention and creativity, raises immunity to stress.

Moreover it also helps you to develop physiological skill. This therapy aims to provide real time information to our central nervous system to do current activities. This training process uses technology to gain more control and information over what your body is doing. This feedback helps you learn to use your mind to develop greater control over your body. In the training process conscious understanding and meditation of the information traveling to the Main nervous system.

Neurofeedback is a training program of the human brain just to enhance the functioning of brain more effectively. Our brain learns to function more and faster than earlier. The entire activity of the brain is measured from moment to moment and this action is shown to the person on whom activity is observed. This is gradual training process of brain and applies to any aspect of brain.

The aim of this training method is to promote healthier function of brain. Many researches have been carried in Neurofeedback for children that use medication and behavior therapy as treatment method. Medication simple induces short term brain activity which results in reduction in symptoms. This treatment is also helpful for children who have problems like bed wetting, nightmares, sleep walking, sleep talking, teeth grinding, and night terrors.

EEG or biofeedback is based on electrical brain activity which is electroencephalogram. Neurofeedback or EEG is training in self regulation. It is simply applied to the brain and it is known that self regulation is important part of good brain function. The advantageous part of self regulation is that it allows the central nervous system function better. In adolescence, this treatment is effective for suicidal behavior, drug abuse, anxiety and depression.

This is also more effective when people get older to maintain good brain function. Any brain regardless of age and current level of function, it can be trained to function much better. Neurofeedback addresses problems of brain disregulation. This happens to many individuals when they pass through anxiety, depression, attention deficits, behavior disorder, headaches, migraines, emotional disturbances. It is relevant for organic brain conditions such as seizures, autism, and cerebral palsy.

The basic conditions that Neurofeedback is helpful is the maintaining the condition like seizures and sub-clinical seizure activity, cerebral palsy, acquired brain injury, birth trauma, pervasive development delay, conduct disorder, bipolar disorder. The technology in this treatment is complex but using it is very simple. Especially children enjoy their experience of directing their own brain wave activity. They learn to change the way their brain learns to function in a new way. Neurofeedback treatment is provided by mental health professionals like counselors, family therapist, psychologists. This treatment has always shown proven and effective result in better functioning of central nervous system.

i guess its more advanced? i dunno…thats why i’m asking. :D
i really have tried medication, and i do yoga and meditate and try to eat well. drugs make me worse. this is a common complaint–and it doesn’t make it less true. :)

Do you mean bio feed back? Anyway, for many things EFT works wonders quickly, and there is a free version at emofree dot com , click on ‘learn eft’. and download the manual before he retires.
For bi polar, that is another story……..you can eft everything bothering you , but you need to have meds and hormone balancing…….along with it all………you have to get really healthy, test for food and other allergies, etc.

Alternatives to Traditional Medical Treatment

If you have been undergoing traditional medical treatment for an ailment and it has not alleviated the symptoms, you may want to consider an alternative form of treatment. It is wise to do so after consultation with your medical practitioner, many doctors are now seeing the benefits that can be obtained by using a more natural and wholistic approach to disease and illness. If your doctor dismisses all forms of alternative therapy as “quackery” then it may be time to find a new doctor.

Alternative therapy practices have gained much more respect over the past few years and many people have had almost miraculous cures.  There are a great many choices now available within the alternative medical world with almost as many treatments as there are practitioners. It is important when choosing a medical treatment plan that you research the alternatives as thoroughly as you can. There are many different treatment options, including those from traditional medicine, that you will need to choose from to suit your body.

One of the most common and widely accepted alternatives is chiropractic for back pain, spinal and general wellbeing.  Acupuncture and acupressure have also become very popular and are now accepted by many as effective ways of treating illness and pain.  Herbal remedies and Chinese herbal medicines are now being taken in place of many medications as are homeopathic remedies.

Detox diet’s are a great way to improve general wellbeing for those who do not want to use, or wish to reduce, the medicines and other prescribed items which often contain harmful chemicals and can have nasty side effects.

Some alternative therapies focus on touch.  These include massage, Rolfing, Reiki, and therapeutic touch.  Other alternative therapy treatments involve your other senses such as aromatherapy (sense of smell); color therapy and light therapy (sense of sight) and music and sound therapy will involve your sense of hearing.

Prayer or meditation can also be of great benefit.  As can the use of yoga, hypnosis, magnetic therapy, polarity therapy, apitherapy, and biofeedback. There are many other alternatives available as well and your doctor should have some knowledge of them. Not all therapies will be suitable or will work for you, everyone is different.

Finding a good alternative therapy practitioner can be tricky you must find a professional to do the treatment.   You need to watch out for those who are not certified or qualified to provide the service.  In most cases, practicing without certification is against the law. You need to do your research and then shop around for the best prices. Ask your doctor to recommend an alternative treatment and reputable practitioner.

Remember word of mouth is usually the best way to find a good therapy provider.  Talk to your family, friends and colleagues about local providers.  The internet is a good source for information and reviews on different alternative therapies available. Some Government agencies may be able to give you information on whether a particular therapy practice has had any complaints made against it. Good health care is vitally important and you need to make the most informed decisions you can.

Theta Wave Meditation

theta wave meditation
How come brain entrainment cds like theta, gamma, alpha wave ones and meditation doesnt affect me anymore?

Is it because my brain got used to them cuz it used to work a lot before or is it because i am bipolar or is it because i am bipolar alright but cuz of meds which may stunt them waves?
are u sure you are not not atheist?

There are those out there who think the brain gets used to particular binaural mixes, Brian Mercer for example. With Holosync, what they do is sell you a new set with the same left/right frequency disparity but with a lower pitch carrier signal to keep you going. So you might want to try some variations of your own (by downloading BWGen, say) and see if those have any effect.

However, I went through a few months of reduced response too, but kept using them anyway, and eventually they started working again, so I’m not 100% convinced by the above argument. In my case I think I’d let my relaxation technique slip, and putting them on in the middle of the night and suddenly getting good results again seemed to confirm this.

As far as meds go, the Monroe Institute does recommend no drugs or alcohol for binaurals, so they’re likely to be having some sort of impact as well.
